Letters from Preaching Camp
Home again, jiggety jig
On the last morning of (camp), we joined together in prayer and were blessed. Our leader Casey, who is just a rock star, preached for us on Luke 7:36-50, the story of the “sinful woman” who anointed Jesus with her tears and oil and wiped his feet with her hair.
She preached to us about how Jesus saw the woman, even when the “certain Pharisee” thought he knew better than Jesus did about who she really was. Jesus, she said, saw the woman and saw the Pharisee for who they both were. And she told us that Jesus sees us, for who we truly are.
We anointed each other. We told each other, “you have been anointed to preach the Gospel.” And we passed the book of the Gospel to each other, as it had been done at the Preaching Slam, but this time to each and every person in the room.
There were tears. Oh, yes. God made good on giving me the gift I’d asked for.
